Geocaching in Grand Marais

geocaching

Geocaching has been called “the world’s treasure hunt”, and whether you are an experienced geocacher or brand-new to the sport, you’ll find dozens of caches hidden in the Grand Marais area. This fun family activity is a great way to get outdoors and enjoy the spectacular scenery in our part of the U.P. If you have a hand-held GPS and a pair of comfortable shoes, you are ready to hunt for geocaches! Find the coordinates of a geocache, get yourself there using your GPS, and hunt around until you find a geocache container. Sign the log book and swap a goody or two, and be sure to log your find at the official geocaching site, www.geocaching.com.

Where to Learn About Geocaching

The best place to learn about geocaching is at the official geogaching website. Here you’ll find instructions and lots of guidance, and you can search for geocaches in the Grand Marais area. Be sure to create an account for yourself, so you can log your geocaches and share your experiences with others!

Golf and Disc Golf

If you’re planning a trip to Grand Marais, bring your clubs! While we do not have a golf course in town, there are several fine courses nearby. We also have the Superior Pines Disc Golf Course, newly opened in 2011. This course is located in the School Forest, just three miles east of town. Disc Golf is a family activity and you only need a Frisbee and comfortable walking shoes to give it a try!
