Cook, Curtis,and
Miller Sawmill, 1906
This photo of the former Cook, Curtis, and Miller Sawmill was taken
in 1906.
The mill was located on the southern side of Grand Marais Bay, and
at one time
employed over 100 men. The only remaining evidence of the
mill is the shell of
the machinery building, to the rear of the main mill. It was
made of cement to
lessen the chance of fires starting from machinery sparks.
