Grand Marais Pilots Association will host the 19th Annual Splash-in on Grand Marais Bay on behalf of the National Seaplane Pilots Association. Seaplanes from all over the US and Canada are invited to attend this three day festival with arrivals on Friday, activities and competitions throughout the day on Saturday and departures on Sunday morning. The public is invited to attend this colorful event; get a close up look at the many sea planes, talk with pilots, and enjoy a beautiful day on the beach. Bring lots of suntan lotion and plan to spend Saturday with us. |

PILOT INFORMATION | |
LOCATION: | The Bay is 35 statute miles from the Newberry (Luce County, ERY) airport VOR on the 325 degree radial on the Green Bay Sectional. |
TIE DOWN: | Amphibious aircraft can use the sand beach for tie down. In the event of bad weather, Burt Township airport is six miles away. |
FUEL: | Newberry ~ 100 octane fuel, Grand Marais marina ~ 89 and 92 octane fuel |
REGISTRATION: | Arriving planes must register at the event headquarters, a Motorhome on the bank overlooking the beach. $15.00 Registration Fee. |
COMMUNICATIONS: | Pilots use 122.75 Unicom - All Traffic - landing to the west, use right traffic pattern, landing to the east, use left traffic pattern. We prefer all aircraft do their downwind out over Lake Superior along the shoreline. |
